The Cleveland Cavaliers have taken an unusual approach to their roster-building.
Not many teams in today’s game feature two big men on the court at the same time, especially if neither of them is an efficient three-point shooter.
The hope was that Evan Mobley could develop his sweet shooting touch from beyond the arc, but that hasn’t been much of the case thus far.
Needless to say, that’s not always a winning formula in today’s pace-and-space era, which is why some people have always speculated about Jarrett Allen’s future with the organization.
With that in mind, it’s not a surprise to see Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reporting that the New Orleans Pelicans have shown an interest in trading for Allen.

The former Brooklyn Nets big man is a solid rebounder and a dominant rim protector, and while he wouldn’t be the best fit next to Zion Williamson for the same reason he’s not the best fit next to Evan Mobley, he’d be a younger upgrade over Jonas Valanciunas, at least for defensive purposes.
Then again, it’s worth wondering whether the Cavs would even be interested in parting ways with Allen, as Mobley isn’t used to playing at the five, even though he seems perfectly capable of doing so.
This Cavs team has been up and down this season and injuries have also taken a big toll on the team, so the next month will be key to determine whether they’ll be sellers or buyers ahead of the trade deadline.
