3 Tweets From Indians Twitter That Summarize Current State Of The Team

The Cleveland Indians enter play Thursday on a rainy day in Northeast Ohio riding a nine-game losing streak.

That is, obviously, very bad.

The team now sits at 42-42 on the year, putting them eight games behind the Chicago White Sox in the American League Central division.

Once again, very bad after the way the season began.

During this skid, some brave souls who run the official Indians Twitter account have had to ignore the replies and deal with plenty of hate thrown their way.

Some fans can’t seem to separate the Twitter account from the actual team.

We bring this up because a few recent tweets from @Indians in particular give a great glimpse into the current state of the franchise.

The roster is in a constant state of transition this season because of so many injuries.

The above tweet came out just hours before a game, as the front office was a busy as ever trying to field a proper gameday roster.

Eddie Rosario hitting the injured list is the biggest roster move of all from the week.

He is dealing with an abdominal strain and it was actually a smart move to give him some rest.

However, the outfield is now decimated with Josh Naylor out for the year.

And don’t forget about Jordan Luplow‘s absence as well.

Our next tweet on this list was sent out following the disastrous no-hit showing Wednesday afternoon.

Even though it was only a seven-inning game, the pain was still real.

The most painful part of this whole tweet is the little red box under the full box score.

Notice the two stars of the game?

They received the honor because they were each able to draw one walk on the day.

That is just sad, to be honest.

Things have gotten so bad that even getting on base is something to be recognized.

We end where it all began, way back on June 30.

The Indians were set for a doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers that ultimately got played deep into the night because of a rain delay.

The streak began then and has yet to let up.

This tweet in particular stands out because of the lineup.

The bottom three of Bradley Zimmer, Austin Hedges, and Oscar Mercado doesn’t exactly jump out as a dominant trio.

Add in the fact that Rosario is now out and what seemed like an easy win last week was only the start of terrible things to come.

We don’t mean to give off this terrible sense of doom and gloom.

However, another loss Thursday against the Kansas City Royals may leave the intern in charge of the tweets at a loss for words.

About Steven Kubitza

Steven has been an Indians fan since the day he was born. Lucky enough to not remember the World Series losses in the 90s, he will never forget the magic and the heartbreak of Game 7 in 2016. He wore the No. 13 playing baseball growing up because of Omar and still rocks a Cody Allen jersey for good luck.
