The Cleveland Indians had a disappointing debut to the 2021 MLB season Thursday.
The offense could not do much of anything and a comeback was launched too late in what ended up being a 3-2 loss against the Detroit Tigers.
This meant it was time to overreact.
Social media is already an often toxic place where anger and general bad vibes are put into the world every second.
But live sports talk television has its moments as well.
Bruce Drennan has been on the Cleveland airwaves for a long time now and he had the honor of taking calls from Indians fans following Thursday’s loss.
One fan got him so angry he offered up a moment that has since gone viral.

Bruce Drennan Calls Out an Angry Fan
This is gold.
The best part is the sharp switch from Drennan simply listening to then, all of a sudden, calling the man an idiot.
The caller complained about Franmil Reyes, so Drennan made it clear that he must have missed all the good Reyes did last season.
Then comes the “you’re an idiot” line that makes the whole thing so hilarious.
Sports talk thrives on these types of exchanges.
A bunch of callers expressing patience about the Indians wouldn’t make for riveting television.
Thus, the call screeners are able to slide some angry ones through and let Drennan go to work.
The best line of all?
“Fair weather idiot.”
Remaining Calm After Opening Day
Not everyone needs to be so defensive of the team like Drennan.
But thinking players are bad because of one game is just too insane during any MLB season.
Shane Bieber punched out 12 yesterday; 14 on Opening Day last year.
The only other pitchers to have 12 or more strikeouts on Opening Day twice in Major League history? Nolan Ryan, Randy Johnson, and Bob Gibson.#OurCLE pic.twitter.com/ZUY2rDZsM1

A big day on Saturday totally changes the narrative that some fans have already created out of impatience.
Both offenses struggled Thursday and that was to be expected in a game that was played during a blizzard at first pitch.
The biggest hit of the game came from Miguel Cabrera, who happens to be a future Hall of Famer.
It was also the first game of the season in general, which is important to note regardless of the weather.
Fans outside of Cleveland may see Drennan’s clip and think his reaction is out of the ordinary.
Those who have watched him for years know it is all part of the show.
He put a fan in their place and also drew a ton of buzz for his own program.
That is quite the win-win on a day when the Indians picked up an ugly loss.
