Deshaun Watson‘s potential suspension could lead the Cleveland Browns to consider having Baker Mayfield as their starter.
Watson could possibly serve an indefinite suspension depending on the results of the hearing that will happen today.
If Watson ends up missing some games, the Browns could turn to Mayfield since he is still with the team.
However, the Heisman Trophy winner said that the team should make the first move in winning him back.
I asked Baker Mayfield if there was any chance for a reconciliation with the Browns if they were without their quarterback this season. He said the Browns would have to reach out to start that process. Mayfield said he has moved on.

Oklahoma reporter Carey Murdock tweeted, “I asked Baker Mayfield if there was any chance for a reconciliation with the Browns if they were without their quarterback this season. He said the Browns would have to reach out to start that process. Mayfield said he has moved on.”
It’s hard to fault Mayfield for his sentiments because the team treated him a second fiddle as soon as Watson signed with the team.
Now they want him back because they have no option left?
If Mayfield refuses, then Jacoby Brissett will take over the Browns until Watson plays again.
Looming Trade With The Seattle Seahawks
The Browns would rather move on than cater to Mayfield’s emotions.
Therefore, they would likely send him elsewhere than make amends.
Reports of a potential trade with the Seattle Seahawks have surfaced and that could be a perfect situation for Mayfield.
If he has moved on, the Browns should have a compelling case to bring him back.
That would be hard to provide because the relationship between Mayfield and the team is already tainted.
Therefore, Mayfield would rather accept the trade than stay in Cleveland with no clarity regarding his role.
It’s safe to say that he has played his last game for the Browns and is seeking for a new environment.
