A very weird thing happened Tuesday afternoon involving the Cleveland Indians and a new hat.
The company New Era released a whole line of hats supposed to invoke images of each city in MLB.
This was what they came up with.

The Indians hat was arguably one of the worst, even if it lacked 10 different area codes.
MLB cap maker New Era has released its official "Local Market" hats for all 30 teams, and the #Indians' version is…interesting (guitar, buckeye, even a pierogi!) Would you ever buy/wear this??

The pierogi is just too much and that is before even getting to the acoustic guitar.
These hats were a shocking sight and almost seemed like an April Fool’s joke.
Luckily, the company realized their mistake and pulled the hats only hours after they were initially revealed.
We all had a good laugh at New Era's expense over the hats, and now it appears New Era pulled the entire line, not just the Royals version. pic.twitter.com/PpA0nswWSt

So what did we learn here?
Fans of All MLB Teams Came Together
The most hilarious part of the hats had to be the area codes.
Some featured a handful of codes, while others had one or zero.
And why is 216 the only one on the Indians hat?
What about those in the 330 and 440?
Based on the Los Angeles Dodgers hat it would make sense for the Cleveland one to feature a much longer list.
The good news here is that everyone came together to lambast these abominations.
A group of people at New Era clearly had a fun idea, on paper, to come up with personalized hats for each city.
One person recommended area codes.
Another shouted out something about the state.
And so on they went, until the boss in the room decided to include every single suggestion.
Then someone used some clip art and came up with this final design that somehow, in a miracle, passed a final inspection.
It is unclear if anyone was able to purchase one of these hats.
If so, it is now a hilarious collector’s item that could fetch a nice price online.
A Much Larger Design Debate
Coming up with any new Indians apparel is difficult given the looming name change.
The “Block C” will dominate designs until something is announced and fans already know that.
Potential names include anything from the Spiders to the Guardians or even the Municipals.
Knowing how things go, the team may come up with a name no one has even been considering.
While the name change has caused a lot of controversy among fans, everyone can come together thanks to New Era and these hats.
Maybe ownership can just go full heel and go with the New Era designs.
Whatever the team does come up with, fans will likely get over any anger as time goes on.
Nothing can possibly be worse than a hat with an area code, guitar, pierogi, buckeye, and several logos on it.
